Ramadan Feast @ Serena Brasserie, Hotel Nikko KL

Friday, August 13, 2010

Ramadan is the ninth month of the Islamic calendar, and a time when Muslims refrain from eating or drinking starting from dawn till dusk. Do you ever Google what is the meaning of Ramadan? The name "Ramadan" had been the name of the ninth month in Arabian culture long before the arrival of Islam; the word itself derived from an Arabic root rmḍ, as in words like "ramiḍa" or "ar-ramaḍ" denoting intense heat, scorched ground and shortness of rations.

Throughout the fasting month, from 11th August to 9 September 2010, Serena Brasserie will be featuring a lavish ‘Buka Puasa’ spread of traditional local specialties from four different Malaysian States and ‘a-la-kampung’ favourites for all to ‘berbuka puasa’, whether with families or friends.

There are more than 100 different dishes and all separate in a different categories - Cold station, Ulam-ulam on round plate, Soup station, Under the Lamp, Asian Station, Noodle station, Carving Board, Action Station, Oriental station, Hot & Cold dessert, and stalls.

Kuram as the starter.

  6. Hi Yvonne, popping into your blog like getting tortured! Ha ha....to see those fantastic, sinfully delicious foods.....
But I eat to live, so anything simple will do for me.

Frankly speaking I'm not much of an outside eater, love simple home cooking, with salt fish, sambal belachan and Im very happy.
I guess my old working days, 30 years of staying in hotels, eating entertaining at the best restaurants have somehow put me off....

Have not eaten dim sum years now....as used to have that almost everyday before.
You have fun, stay easy, Lee.
