The City of Cats! + The Cat Museum @ Kuching, Sarawak

Monday, August 15, 2011

Take a break from food post and continue on my pending travelogue first. This is the second post about Kuching trip, the first post was all about the foods I had in Kuching during the 4 days 3 nights trip with my family on last CNY this year where you can read it here.

The other reason why I wanna blog about Kuching first because I am going to visit Kuching again soon!!! Is Kuching a fun place? Hmm... Personally, I don't think so. Anyway, I have some friends there and they suggested to bring me to other places which I haven't visit during my last visit.

Day one - dinner was taken at Waterfront and this is the only building we saw.

Waterfront, Kuching @ night. There are many food stalls along the Waterfront and many of them serving Sarawak authentic foods.

DAY TWO 2
We managed to get a tour guide to bring us around in Kuching with the help from hotel staff. For the tour guide charges, it may vary thus it would be great if you get the info from the hotel or website.

This is the place you MUST stop by on your first visit to Kuching because this is one of the identity of this cat's city. It was CNY, so the cat was decorated with CNY theme. Clothes on the cat will change accordingly by following the festival season. I will go to Kuching on this coming Raya, so let's see if the cat is decorate with Raya theme and wearing the green raya shirt.

Family members and my beloved 77 years old + healthy grandma.

Mummy asked me to take this picture because there is a sentence of Chinese word on this government building. The culture at Sarawak is different compare to west Malaysia, and even the building & streets too. Don't worry, we won't face culture shock here. Still, this is Malaysia :)

Tour guide brought us here to get some local souvenirs - peppers, handmade bags, clothes, layer cakes and many more.

This pic was taken at Sarawak museum, entrance was FREE. This is the museum build by Charles Brooke, the White Rahaj of Sarawak to exhibiting the handicrafts of the indigenouse people and the wildlife of Sarawak.
