Ristorante Porto Romano @ The Intermark

Porto Romano is a wonderful place to enjoy a blend of Albanian, Italian and Mediterranean cuisine. They have a wide range of menus that you can choose from appetizers, soup, pizza, pasta, rice, desserts, coffee and wine.

It is a decent place with all the beautiful painting on the wall. The interior and furnitures are stylish and attractive which creates a cosy and comfortable place to enjoy your meal.

They have 3 outlets - Mont Kiara, Taman Tun Dr Ismail and The Intermark which I visited today.

There are many types of wine provided by them and we get the chance to try few bottles.

I was attracted by the oil painting. It is seriously an awesome piece.

2 different menu for foods and wine.

Let's begin the feast.

The first time I tried Kilkenny beer was at Kuching. Sadly, I can't continue to drink this beer because both of my hands will start to feel itchy after a few minutes. So far, this is the only beer will causing an immediate itchiness after a few sips of Kilkenny Irish beer.

Since I don't have any "fate" with Kilkenny Irish beer, how about wine? Although I don't have any knowledge about wine, but I still love to have it cos the taste is good and smooth. 

This was the only white wine I tried that night. It taste good and wasn't too dry.

The owner was so friendly and nice. He introduced few bottles of wine to 
us with some details information.

*RECOMMENDED* Grilled Vagetables - RM28

It was a plate of colourful combination of grilled capsicums, aubergines, and zucchini, topped with balsamic vinegar and extra olive oil. It might look a bit oily but it actually taste really good. This is Porto Romano's specialty and not to forget to order it. Definitely a good choice of appetizer to kick start the meal.

Porto Romano Salad - RM24
Another original creation of appetizer by Porto Romano. It is a seafood mix of squids, clams, mussels and prawns marinated in herbs, lemon juice and extra virgin olive oil. It was presented in a beautiful shell.

Try out the Porto Romano's Chilli sauce if you would like to add some stronger taste of the seafood salad. It was a creation exclusively for Porto Romano Restaurant. You couldn't find any sauce in supermarket or store and it is only available at their restaurant. The taste of the chilli sauce was super awesome. Wickedly spicy and tangy. 

Ox-Tail Soup - RM29

A thick soup that is hearty and rustic. It is also a Porto Romano specialty.

Prawn Bisque - RM16

Bisque is a luxurious, velvety soup which can be made with any crustaceans.

Served the fluffy and warm bread either with the soup above or with some vinegar & olive oil.

Porto Romano Seafood Soup - RM24
Original creation of Porto Romano by using only fresh seafood. May be served spicy upon request. Another hearty soup.

Squid Ink Pasta - RM35
Porto Romano Specialty. Freshly made fettucine flavoured with squid ink and cooked with calamari rings. There are more and more restaurant is serving squid ink pasta, if you love it, try this here.

Spaghetti alla Puttanesca - RM27
Spaghetti alla Puttanesca literally "whore's style spaghetti" in Italian. This savoury mix of Mediterranean anchovy fillets, capers, olives and aubergine originated in the Naples area. It taste like the bolognese spaghetti we usually have cos of the tomato and its paste. I like the idea of eggplant adding to the spaghetti, maybe that's my favourite vegetable.

Pizza al Toro - RM35
Porto Romano original creation. A crisp crust topped with beef pepperoni, beef bacon and beef pastrami. The beef was thick and the cheesy smell good. Good try!

Pizza Pesto & Chicken - RM45
Original creations by them as well. Tomato sauce makes way for pesto sauce in this to-die-for pizza. 2 types pizza was served that night, both pizza have a crisp crust which I like it so much. 

There are total 13 types of pizza offered by Porto Romano. Here are few of them, Mediterranean pizza, Neapolitan pizza, pizza with smoked salmon and egg, devil's pizza, Magherita pizza and many more.

Char-boiled chicken leg-Spanish style - RM32
I was really full didn't try much on this dish. It was a well-balanced lemon-based sauce tops the char-boiled boneless leg.

*RECOMMENDED* Moussaka - RM38

It was the Greek classic lasagna made from layers of grilled aubergine and minced lamb. Taste good and we finished it in a mere moments although all of us were stuffed. 

*RECOMMENDED* Seafood Risotto - RM32
Finally! I found the best risotto at KL so far. It is an Italian arborio rice, assorted seafood and white wine are cooked over a slow fire. 20 minutes were needed to cook this dish. I gonna go back again for this!! The rice was bigger, solid and taste real good. Without the mussels, the risotto still taste niceeeeee.. *yummy*

Braised Lamb Shank - RM38
Lamb shank was braised in oven fire for hours till they are tender. It served with their own gravy with side salad or spaghetti. Signature dish of Porto Romano.

Torta di Mele - Apple Pie - RM12
The presentation was appealing. The apple pie was wrapped with a thin crust, comes with custard sauce and vanilla ice cream. The filling of apple pie was warm and tasty, it also taste a bit sour. It was a heavenly dessert.

Tiramisu - RM15
Porto Romano version of tiramisu using the best coffee and almond liqueur. It is their signature dessert. Unfortunately, there is no alcohol in this tiramisu.

After the hearty meal, we enjoyed a cup of coffee to end our scrumptious meal.

Affogato - RM19
A scoop of vanilla ice cream with a shot of kahlua and an espresso over it.

Caffe Latte - RM8

Coffee - RM6.50
It was a freshly brewed caffe vergnano. Smell aroma and taste good.

Espresso - RM5.90 (single), RM7.50 (double)
It was also using vergnano brand coffee.

This is the Cafe Vergnano 1882 to brew the aromatic coffee.

It was definitely a pleasant night with the owner and thanks for serving us the scrumptious foods. Thanks again for the invitation. Guess what? We were also invited to attend their Albania International Day at Mont Kiara outlet last week. Will blog about it soon.
